Welcome Back to St. Kieran Church!
Our newly renovated church has reopened for Sunday Mass. Discover the reopening guidelines as we prepare for this special new chapter in our parish’s history.
Church Reopening Guidelines of the Renovated St. Kieran Church
1. Purpose and Initial Reopening
As we prepare to celebrate our parish’s 60th anniversary, we thank God for the opportunity to partially reopen our renovated church, although still unfinished, and gather once again in prayer and the celebration of the Eucharist.
Sunday Masses resume in the church the weekend of October 31–November 1, while daily Mass will continue at the Shrine (La Ermita) for the time being. The Eucharistic Adoration Chapel will remain closed until completed. The initial reopening will allow us to become familiar with the new layout, observe how the church functions during Mass, and identify any necessary adjustments while final renovation details are completed.
2. General Guidelines
During the initial reopening, the church will be used for Sunday Mass only. Everyone is asked to:
- Respect the sacred nature of the church and the dignity of the Eucharist.
- Become familiar with the new layout and designated areas.
- Avoid areas still under construction or not yet open.
- Prioritize safety, accessibility, reverence, and the smooth movement of people.
- Share feedback with the Parish Council to help identify needed improvements. Email us: info@stkieranmiami.org
3. Arrival, Seating, and Communion
- Parking and entry: Parishioners, visitors, and volunteers are encouraged to park in the ILS school parking lot and enter through Don Bosco Plaza, between the church and the parking lot, as parking near the church is limited.
- Church layout: Please become familiar with the sanctuary, entrances, exits, and seating areas.
- Seating capacity: It remains about the same as in the old church. The new vestibule provides extra space for families with small children, serving as a “cry room” and/or overflow seating space when needed.
- Seating courtesy: Please sit toward the center of the pews, leaving the ends open for those who arrive later.
- Holy Communion: Please approach the altar using the center aisle only, where four Eucharistic ministers will distribute the Holy Communion, and return to your seat using the side aisle.
4. Evaluation and Follow-Up
The initial reopening period will last approximately one month. The pastor and Parish Council will review feedback and observations and implement necessary adjustments as soon as reasonably possible. This period will help us refine procedures and prepare for the official rededication.
5. Official Altar Dedication
The official dedication of the new altar of the church will take place on Thursday, December 3rd at 7 PM, with Archbishop Thomas G. Wenski presiding. Additional information will be announced once it becomes available.
6. Closing
We thank God for this opportunity to reopen our church and continue our parish life in this renewed sacred space. We ask everyone to approach this transition with patience, flexibility, cooperation, and prayer. Through open communication and a shared commitment to safety and reverence, we can make this reopening a positive experience for all. May our renewed church continue to be a place of worship, reconciliation, fellowship, and encounter with Christ.
